Kauai is definitely the place for adventure. We had to tame ours down a little with having two young kids in tow. So no major hiking to waterfalls for us. Today is New Years Eve. We set out to find some of the caves I had read about online. So our first stop was Maniniholo dry cave.

My pictures weren’t doing it justice as to how big it was so here’s one with the family exploring.

Next stop was wet cave/blue room where we were told they filmed parts of Pirates of the Caribbean there.

If you swim to the other side through the hole it brings you to this part of the cave.

After the caves, we needed to let the girls get some energy out so we went to Hanalei Bay to let them build sand castles and play in the waves.

Equivalent to the squirrels in Illinois. These guys are everywhere and abundant.

Driving along we found Kilauea Point National Wildlife Refuge. A Lighthouse! With it being a holiday they were closed, unfortunately.

We rang in the New Year at Poipu Beach Park where they had restaurant vendors, movies in the park for kids and fireworks at the end of the night.

Hard to get a picture in the dark but some turtles decided to join the fun on the beach where the fireworks were going to be.
